Apricot Tart Royal

Kat mana yang 'Royal' nya?? I don't know

Apricot Tart Royal...undressed
(Bad architectural planning resulted in those cracks/chips)

I saw some canned peaches leftover in the fridge. I have to think fast before those peaches end up in the custody of Mr Tong Sam Pah (he he my rubbish bin..)

Browsed thru the many many recipe books that i have and decided on this combination....

Son1 gave his "passed" (with flying colours??). Him being fussy & choosy....I decided to share it here...bukan apa...............senang kan dari dok buka buku resepi yang bertimbun kat rumah ni....

Tak sabar nak potong......Puas tiup nak bagi sejuk cepat :-D

Apricot Tart Royal

You need;

Base (refer below)
Filling (refer below)
Canned apricot (halves or quartered), drained

Base:
2 Cups self raising flour
1 Cup cornflour
7 oz butter
1 egg
pinch of salt (add to flour) - optional

Method:
Cream butter ( i just use wooden spoon)
Add egg, incorporate well
Add flour, and mix just like you are making biscuit/cookies
Roll the pastry to desired thickness and place in loose bottom pie dish
Blind bake for a while (or you can choose not to pre-bake)

Filling:
200 ml whip cream
200 ml evaporated milk
4 eggs
100 gm sugar
2 Tablespoon (Tbsp) flour

- mix everything and strain if necessary

Assembly:

  • Brush pastry with egg white (just incase it leaks-egg white serves as glue)
  • Arrange apricot as you like.
  • Pour filling up to the brim.
  • Bake @ 180*C for 30 mins or until custard is set (slightly shaky, soft in center is ok).
  • By this time the pastry should be slightly browned.
  • Leave to cool.......

Seri Muka Bunga Telang

Dried Bunga Telang

Seri Muka Bunga Telang

I bought this dried flowers about a year ago out of curiosity and it has been in my freezer since.

During my working stint years ago, it was a norm to have meeting over breakfast or lunch or tea.....
We used to be served, among others, this blue-patched steam glutinous rice, nicely cut into squares, with coconut jam (kaya/serikaya) pumped on top. I used to wonder how it was made... yes i just wonder..... no time to think beyond that.

Years after that.......
I saw and asked, this 'ah pek' said..."ooo itu taruk sama pulut......rendam...bal..bla." Bought the flowers....back home, no pulut so the flowers went into hibernation.......

One year later.....
last week i bought glutinous rice but not sure how to do it. I soaked the glutinous rice separately, only about half a cup soaked with the flowers....and i steam them separate as well.....

-Nak story dalam bahasa malaysia pulak-

Ni makcik punya version, tak pasti kebiasaan orang buat macam mana ye. Malas nak buat sekaya, makcik serikan je muka dia.....

500 gm beras pulut;
1/2 cawan pulut rendam bersama bunga telang, lebihnya rendam dlm air biasa.

makcik letakkan bunga telang tu dalam 'teabag'.

Kukus berasingan (steam separately)

Satukan dan tekan (mix & press firmly)

Kukus lagi 5 minit, letak bahan atas & kukus lagi lebih kurang 20 minit.

Dah potong, isikan dalam bekas,
berilah pada jiran suruh dia org komen

P/s: Let's see if i succeeded in canceling ONLY the required words, i hope i got it right this time

Biskut "roti bakar"

Entry hari ni kira cam hentam keromo lah sikit (ish ish dah berapa tahun tak dengar 'hentam keromo' ni ye?)

Laaaaa, apasal makcik punya story kat bawah tu kena 'potong'? ni sudah error, takpa, you all baca dulu na, nanti makcik troubleshoot masalah ni....

Kita cerita pasal rotilah. Bila dah tak larat nak habiskan atau tarikh luput dah nak hampir, apa semua buat dengan roti?
Adakah;
  1. Bengkang roti - kat rumah makcik tak jalan!
  2. Bread pudding - hanyalah di'englishkan' bengkang kat atas tu...pun tak jalan!
  3. Bagi burung makan - burung pun tak banyak kat sini, kalau ada pun sedikit memilih.
  4. Breadcrumbs - buat jugak tapi tak terhabis pun
  5. Buat yang ni?? Haaaa, gerenti jalan sebab;
- boleh simpan lama, jadi sikit sikit, lama lama habis lah.
- cicah neskepe atau kopi..perggghhhhh.
- sungguh enak di makan begitu saja....(nyanyilah macam iklan roti terkenal tu)

Roti tak habis, di sapu butter, tabur gula, bakar garing....
dah sejuk, simpan dlm bekas kedap udara....hmmmm

Dah berhari hari makcik sibuk...... bergelut jahit nak habiskan order......

The Larder3 story

Khas buat insan yang bertanya.......
Question:
In less than 250 words, make a short story about something you've 'shown-off' earlier

Mc and Pc live in a faraway land where pearl is in abundant.
One day while shop-walking, Mc & Pc bumped upon this sweet little thing, seated among other sweet things, big and small.
Couldn't take their eyes from it, they decided to enquire from the caretaker. After some negotiation, they managed to adopt the sweet little thing. Not wanting it to feel out of place at the new home, the couple decided to also adopt two others, Display and Cosy.

Ms Display

At home, Pc said they have to be separated in order not to have them 'ganged-up' and mess everything. They decided to place Display together with 8 year old Mr Barr

Mr Barr

Mc felt she wanted this little thing to be near her & the best place would be the kitchen. She named him Larder 3.

Larder 3 proved to be very strong (and heavy too). Mc fed him with everything she can think of; chocolate, noodles, milk, sugar, canned stuff until there are times he cannot take it anymore.

Larder3 exposed

As obedient as he is, Larder 3 obliged to any given task. At times, with open arms, he would sacrifice to hold dishes Mc prepared for guests.

Larder3 covered

One day Mc decided to take Larder 3 for a walk and he received few stares. The Cat and The Gobok openly declared they have fallen in love with it and would like to know more about him.

Mc agreed to expose Larder 3 as she is very sure even Google Police are not able to trace the whereabout of Larder 3, let alone the GPS!

My shy Larder3

Mission accomplished! he he he
