Guide to a better Life

image from mr google

I received this thru my group email and thought its worth sharing

POINTS ON HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR LIFE

PERSONALITY:

1. Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
2. Don't have negative thoughts of things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment
3. Don't over do; keep your limits
4. Don't take yourself so seriously; no one else does
5. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip
6. Dream more while you are awake
7. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need..
8. Forget issues of the past. Don't remind your partner of his/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness.
9. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others.
10. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present
11. No one is in charge of your happiness except you
12. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
13. Smile and laugh more
14. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

COMMUNITY:

15. Call your family often
16. Each day give something good to others
17. Forgive everyone for everything
18. Spend time with people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6
19. Try to make at least three people smile each day
20. What other people think of you is none of your business
21. Your job will not take care of you when you are sick. Your family and friends will. Stay in touch.

LIFE:

22. Put GOD first in anything and everything that you think, say and do.
23. GOD heals everything
24. Do the right things
25. However good or bad a situation is, it will change
26. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up
27. The best is yet to come
28. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful
29. When you awake alive in the morning, thank GOD for it
30. If you know GOD you will always be happy. So, be happy.

While you practice all of the above, share this knowledge with the people you love, people you school with, people you play with, people you work with and people you live with.

Ratapan siyatim piatu.......

17th is a date to remember...........the dates we were orphaned

17th September 2002.

My father drew his last breath at home. That was 8 years ago.
Not many photos of him, I tried to capture a 'already-framed' photos, and here it is...

My late father, Hj Puteh Md Zin with mother
(1925 - 2002)

Last family photo with dad, taken during syawal 2001

Anak cucu pakat ambil kain pelikat sorang satu buat kenangan......

Then it happened again, coincidently, also on the 17th......

17th June 2010.

Mak left us early morning,....at the hospital, on the day we planned to take her home.

And that was just 3 months ago.

Hjh Sariah binti Ariffin
(1925 - 2010)

Last family photo with her, syawal 2009

Anak cucu berebut ambik baju kedah pulak, (even my hubby & sons wore it with jeans)

Kita yang dah dewasa ni pun amat terasa kehilangan, apatah lagi anak2 yang kehilangan semasa mereka masih memerlukan kasih sayang & tunjuk ajar. The thought of that makes me (a little bit) stronger.

Ramadhan is coming to an end......

Almost every blogs display food for iftar as well as sahur (pre dawn meal). Food sharing by these people are ideas to others (i do my morning blogwalk to get ideas too)

And one guy is so happy to see food variety that he 'virtually collected' meals from pondoks he visited, and put them into his pondok, one long list of them!
As gentleman as he is, he kasi a box of bunga ros pula in return. I was one of them; dapat itu bunga lepas dia 'curi' my Agar agar Milo.

And I am proud to display the bunga here.

Thank you seribu Uncle Lee

Opps, I highly recommend you visit his pondok as he has lots (i really mean a lot!) of stories, from the jungle to the streets, communist to actresses, men, girls, cars, window cleaners etc, but have your keropok & teh 'o' beside you, his cerita is normally very long......

Yesterday, we were host to 15 people, friends of son 2. He asked for nasi tomato.
They were all very helpful and alhamdulillah, all food habis, siap bungkus for two friends who couldn't make it.

Daging kicap, ayam merah, agar-agar, kerabu timun and fruit.
(missing were nasi tomato & the kuih's)

I like the grapes (right) presentation (by one of son2 colleague)

Helping hands

'Buffet' on the floor, in the living room

Siap main bunga api lagi after that.
Insyaallah, God willing, will be seeing you guys again next year, mai lagi na... :)

Nasi Beriani Kambing

Yes, My lamb has been converted!
But somehow, i only managed to capture this image, when breaking of fast were over & as it is, only 'remnants' left. Kambing pun ala ala menyorok kat celah celah nasi tu

Just to share this simple recipe;

1 kg basmathi rice cleaned & drained {1 kg rice= 3 cans(*)}
200 ml evaporated milk (about 1/2 can)
4 Tablespoon beriani powder
1 small tub natural yoghurt
Water (pls refer notes below)

Saute:
1 capsicum - diced
1 small carrot - diced or julienne
2 big onion - sliced
2" ginger - bruised
5-6 garlic - sliced
1 tomato - diced
1 Cinnamon bark
3 star anise
4-5 cardamom

oil/ghee/butter.

A
  • In a pot, saute ingredients in oil/ghee/butter until fragrant.
  • Stir in beriani powder, followed by milk.
  • Add in lamb, yoghurt and water.
  • Cook until lamb is tender
  • Add salt to taste.
B
  • Arrange pieces of cooked lamb in a rice cooker.
  • Pour rice evenly on top of lamb.
  • Measure the liquid from lamb that you cook earlier. Top up with water to make a total of 4 1/2 cans liquid. Pour on top of rice.
  • Cook rice as normal in the rice cooker and you should know the rest (ie serve & eat :-)
Serve hot with air asam tomato & kerabu timun.

Notes:
  1. (*) Can= eveporated milk can
  2. I use the evaporated milk can to measure. You can use any cups, but use the same one to measure rice & liquid; ratio of rice: liquid = 1: 1.5
