Of the rainbow and cokodok.....

Past few days were gloomy here in the state. The sun was out but shy away just few hours later and came the cloud, the wind and the rain!

But that's outside.
Inside makcik's kitchen, it was a hive of activities, with rainbow being the theme....it seems :)
I did quite a few but i just put the rainbow ones.....

Bread Pudding/Jelly

BREAD PUDDING

Ingredients :

1 packet agar-agar strip (25g)
1.4 litre water
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 can evaporated milk
6 pieces white bread ~ cut to small cubes
1 nos egg ~ lightly beaten
3 food coloring
1 teaspoon vanilla essence


Method :

1. Soak the bread in evaporated milk and egg. Pour into a blender and blend. Set aside.
2. Cut the agar-agar strips to an inch size and soak for 10 minutes or so. Then boil with 1.4 litre water till agar-agar dissolved. Put through a sieve and pour back into the pot. Add sugar and stir till sugar dilutes.
3. Pour the blended bread mixture into the agar-agar and stir on low fire for a while.
4. Divide to 4 portions. Add a color to each portion and leave one portion as it is.
5. Pour one color at time onto the centre of the tray.
6. Place the tray in the refrigerator to set.
7. Cut and serve.

Stuffed Portobello

Mushroom.

Portobello or portabella, according to en Wiki, originates from Europe or Northern America.
But makcik got it from Tesco je....

I was attracted to it by the size; two pcs with 4" diameter and another 3 slightly smaller....

Stuffed

The stuffed:
I used ingredients that were available in my kitchen......
Asparagus, small piece of lobster my sister brought back from Sabah recently, onion, garlic.
Saute crushed garlic in butter and add the rest, cook for a while, add salt & pepper to taste.

The Mushrooms:
Remove stem & clean. Brush butter or drizzle olive oil on mushroom. Sprinkle salt and pepper.
Bake/grill for abt 20 mins.

The assembly
Arrange portobello in tray with stem side up. Put in stuffed, top with cheese. I also put cili flakes on top of cheese. Bake/grill until cheese slightly browned.


Serve with roast chicken wings/mash potato/salad

Ayam Vs Ikan Kering

Setelah lebih kurang seminggu lembu dan ayam bermaharajalela di rumah2 seantero dunia, berkawan baik dengan pulut serta santan tibalah masa untuk mereka mengundurkan diri....

Disamping tu jangan kita lupa ada juga orang yang tengah bersedih kan, jadi berpada padalah kalau nak happy pun...

Dan sudah semestinya semua orang juga sibuk dangan hal2 berkaitan; sebelum juga semasa raya.........

Kad Raya Cantik!

Makcik masih dalam mood "bercuti" lagi, so cuma nak tayang kad raya cantik cantik yang makcik kutip semasa berkunjung ke rumah sahabat ......
