Of the rainbow and cokodok.....

Past few days were gloomy here in the state. The sun was out but shy away just few hours later and came the cloud, the wind and the rain!

But that's outside.

Inside makcik's kitchen, it was a hive of activities, with rainbow being the theme....it seems :)

I did quite a few but i just put the rainbow ones.....

Bread Pudding/Jelly

BREAD PUDDING

Ingredients :

1 packet agar-agar strip (25g)
1.4 litre water
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 can evaporated milk
6 pieces white bread ~ cut to small cubes
1 nos egg ~ lightly beaten
3 food coloring
1 teaspoon vanilla essence

Method :

1. Soak the bread in evaporated milk and egg. Pour into a blender and blend. Set aside.
2. Cut the agar-agar strips to an inch size and soak for 10 minutes or so. Then boil with 1.4 litre water till agar-agar dissolved. Put through a sieve and pour back into the pot. Add sugar and stir till sugar dilutes.
3. Pour the blended bread mixture into the agar-agar and stir on low fire for a while.
4. Divide to 4 portions. Add a color to each portion and leave one portion as it is.
5. Pour one color at time onto the centre of the tray.
6. Place the tray in the refrigerator to set.
7. Cut and serve.

Stuffed Portobello

Mushroom.

Portobello or portabella, according to en Wiki, originates from Europe or Northern America.

But makcik got it from Tesco je....

I was attracted to it by the size; two pcs with 4" diameter and another 3 slightly smaller....

The stuffed:

I used ingredients that were available in my kitchen......

Asparagus, small piece of lobster my sister brought back from Sabah recently, onion, garlic.

Saute crushed garlic in butter and add the rest, cook for a while, add salt & pepper to taste.

The Mushrooms:

Remove stem & clean. Brush butter or drizzle olive oil on mushroom. Sprinkle salt and pepper.

Bake/grill for abt 20 mins.

The assembly

Arrange portobello in tray with stem side up. Put in stuffed, top with cheese. I also put cili flakes on top of cheese. Bake/grill until cheese slightly browned.

Serve with roast chicken wings/mash potato/salad

Setelah lebih kurang seminggu lembu dan ayam bermaharajalela di rumah2 seantero dunia, berkawan baik dengan pulut serta santan tibalah masa untuk mereka mengundurkan diri....

Kejadian 1:

Sedang makcik leka buat kerja dalam rumah di suatu 'hampir tengah hari' tiba tiba kedengaran... 'kedebooommmmmm' dua kali.

As usual i thought it was those boys from a school nearby playing with fire-crackers.....The backlane is their favourite port for lepaking before/after school.

Tapi hari tu dengar kelam kabut sikit.....indeed, one of the boys sudah luka tangan as the crackers sudah meletup dalam tangan dia...

When i went to look, his right hand was already wrapped, waiting for ambulance to come, his face changed from black sweet to yellow langsat...kesakitan/ketakutan/kepucatan kot.

His friends around him comforting, 2 tried to be there but moved away as they were wearing only their school pants....badan habis penuh tepung, tengah dok jadi badut gamaknya.

Yang nak rayanya kita ni, tapi yang sudah TERletup tangan & badut tepung tu ialah budak2 india, camno tu?

Kesian nengok budak tu if he is innocent or mangsa keadaan, but if they were the mischievous ones yang selau dok buat 'havoc' kat belakang rumah tu............(lu pikir lah sendiri ye?)

Kejadian 2:

Today while on the way to do marketing. I was trying to park & the attendant was just one car infront of me, sitting on (his) bike, holding a book.

Selalu, bila nak park je, attendant akan cepat cepat datang nak tulis resit.....but not this guy.

Makcik dok ingat...dia ni dok sibuk baca buku cerita ke?

Parked & walked towards him to hand the money, dia suakan tangannya, sambil terus menatap buku.....& as i neared, i heard him........

Dia tengah dok baca yassin! Ohhh sejuknya hati tengok adik tu......alhamdulillah, harap adik tu di berikan kesejahteraan dalam meniti kehidupan, amin.

Seminggu yang mendatang ni semua orang pasti sibuk kan? Nak prepare nak buat rendang, ketupat, kuah kacang, sate, kuih2 yg masih tertunggak......

Over the weekend, pakcik insisted that we buy food for breakfast instead of cooking.

Hmmm, with that, i had some time to indulge in my hobby......sewinglah apa lagi

Of late, whenever i wander(?) around malls (in my hometown or away), i will see at least 6/10 people carrying it. Looks like LC has become a household item....and this brand is derived from the name of a town kat sana nunnn......

I gave myself a try and came up with one of my version.....lets called it LN....apa itu LN?

Ha ha nanti makcik come out with my own label called MsWhite, boleh kan?
