Simple Sardine

Sardine Rolls

1 large can sardine
1 tbsp cili boh (blended cili), or more if you like it hot
1 tsp tamarind (asam jawa) paste
1 onion - diced
2tbsp water

1 loaf of bread (ready sliced ones)

Eggs, lightly beaten. Add a dash of pepper if you like.
Oil for deep frying

Place all ingredients in a saucepan, stir to mix, add salt if desired.
Cook under slow fire until mixture is slightly dry. Leave to cool.
Use the rolling pin to flatten bread.
Spoon enough filling onto bread, about 1/2" away from edge.
Roll tight and secure the other end with water.
Heat enough oil for deep frying.
Toss sardine roll into beaten egg and fry till golden brown.
Serve. Yield about 15 pcs
